With the dust settling and election season now over, I'm curious: Did your company post on its website, or present voting information in some form to its employees? Did your company ask employees to contribute to a political action fund? Does your company have a policy regarding politics in the workplace?

Thanks, all.

nope. but I read this one news about certain companies sending out memos like:

pre election: "if (name of candidate) wins, I might be forced to do some layoffs..."
post election: "don't be surprised if the company will consider decreasing the number of staff due to possible outcome of the election"

trying to find the source of that article.

Jabo-source of that article was the nightly news!  I was watching both the nightly news on 11/14 and The Daily Show from 11/13 and they highlighted two owners of companies, one a coal-mining company and the other a retail company--both owners/bosses said they would have to layoff people because Obama won and they would now have to give healthcare to their employees.  Jon Stewart made the comment, and yes it was funny, that if these owners had taken all the money they gave to a PAC to defeat Obama and put it back in the company and give them a healthcare plan, it would have cost them less.  I think there was a $5m figure named--and he's right.

In my organization, we did remind people about voting and gave them the voting times in all the states we are in because we have a policy stating people can have up to 3 hours off to vote.  So we needed to reiterate that policy every 4 years.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
