I've been working with PTO plans for years, and I've seen just about every way to do it. You can combine some or all the types of time off, and it should segue with your disability plan so employees don't have gaps in coverage. I think they're great, but they're not for everyone- it depends on your objectives. Hopefully you're currently tracking absences, b/c you should get a sense of what your current program is costing. PTO doesn't automatically save $, it depends on how many days ees are using under the current plan. I'd be happy to discuss or fax you a whitepaper I recently wrote "An Introduction to PTO".
