Can anyone share any compensation plans for individuals (such as MIS staff) on-call and/or required to work over the New Year's holiday due to Y2K issues? Thanks!

I work in IS for a large hospital and we will get nothing. In fact we are not permitted vacation from October 1 thru Jan 31,2000 and we will not get holidays until February.
We will be working two shifts 10pm on the 31 til 10am on the 1st. If we do not show we will be fired. I questioned if they could do this, and we are a right to work state and can be fired at any time.
Others have left the company in response to this already because they viewed their family as more important then the IS system. IMAGINE THAT!!!! So please reqwrd grasiuosly if you have the resources and keep the people that have no real reason for being there at home.

Fortunately, for us, our systems are tested and intact. No one will have to be here, although the IS Director has to carry the pager in case of system failure or temperature alarm. The alarm company would call him.
