Our company stores are spread throughout the US and we are integrating our own timeclock via our intranet server. With the automation of clocking in/out for our hourly employees, (a) what documentation must we provide, if any, to our employees, (b)must we maintain hard copies on record and (c) what guidlines must we integrate for rounding up/down when an EE records his/her time in the system?
Any help or resources is appreciated.

All of our employees "clock" in on their PC into a time keeping program, which we love. We don't print hard copies as a rule, but the system does maintain this data and it can be printed if we need to. As long as the records exist for the retention period, you should be fine. As far as rounding, we use the 8 minute rule, which the program implements for us. I would double check with my state wage and hour division, but it's acceptable for California.
