We are going to require a number of our exempt associates to be at work on January 1, 2000, which of course is the New Years Holiday. These individuals will be required to check the various system

Exempt Compensation for Jan 1, 2000

We are going to require a number of our
exempt associates to be at work on
January 1, 2000, which of course is
the New Years Holiday. These individuals will be required to check the various systems and test functions.
Because it is a holiday I would like to consider some type of additional compensation. I am wondering how other organizations are handling this issue. Thank you.

We're doing the same and plan to have our own little "New Year's Eve" party--food, games, etc., prior to midnight and hopefully after. It's a hospital and most exempt will be there not to fix what goes wrong (hopefully nothing) but to ensure no "panic attacks" by staff. Since the 1st is on a weekend and Fri will be the "holiday", we're letting them have the 30th off also. Lastly, we're doing letters from the President of the firm for them--no cost but it's usually the little things that make a difference.
