The one I was a part of all sat for the exam December 6th. Do a search on Yahoo for PHR exam - I believe there are already some set up for the May test. If not, check msn.com groups. They had some, too. The support and info from the online group was invaluable. Study hard and I HIGHLY recommend spending the $45 on the practice test HRCI offers online. I took it a couple of days before the test and it really prepared me for the format of the exam while showing me areas I needed to review. Best wishes & good luck! |

I started off studying for the PHR certification by trying to memorize all the manuals and books.
I quickly found out this was a rather ineffective way to study. I had a difficult time retaining all the information, and couldn't tell what was important versus un-important. So I began taking lots of PHR practice tests. In fact, I learned more from taking the practice tests than I learned from just reading the PHR manuals and books. It is important to look for PHR practice tests that provide comprehensive explanations for each question and answer. I learned quite a bit from all the mistakes I made when I took the practice tests. I would avoid some of the so-called free PHR practice exams that you find online. I quickly discovered that most of the answers are inaccurate, and the lack of explanations for each question made it very difficult to really learn from your mistakes. As others have recommended, take the diagnostic test from HRCI and the PHR practice tests from CertGear. The only problem I have with the HRCI diagnostic exam is that no answers are provided with the questions. This makes it very difficult to learn from your mistakes. But the CertGear exams have very good explanations, and is a tool to prepare for the PHR certification. Yeah, that scumbag has been posting that dang link everywhere for weeks. I have a Google alert for everytime "studying for the PHR exam" pops up, and I keep getting notified of that jerk's spam. |
