When applying for a new job I was asked what my salary requirements were by an HR rep. I told them 105K and I would consider anything north of that level. I currently make 85K + a 20K bonus. I think she took my response to mean that my current base salary is 105K, which is not true. I got the offer for 112.5K base plus 17% bonus and have accepted, but now I am not sure what to put on my application for salary history. I want to write 105K becuase that is my total package, but I am concerned about triggering a red flag on my background check. I was asked what my requirements were and I answered honestly. What should I write on my application?

Thanks for your help!

Honesty is always the best policy. I would put it just like you just explained it. 105K plus 20K Bonus

That would be perfect. I learned a long time ago to always try to keep everything as honest as you can then you don't have to try to cover up something that really doesn't have to be anyway.
