Hi,

I am currently being offered a position that will be subjected to a drug and background check after I'm hired. Shouldn't this occur before I'm hired? I have nothing to hide but when they do a background check, can they check my complete employment history because I left a few short term jobs out of my resume.

Typically, jobs are offered contingent upon satisfactorily completing a background check and drug screen. The background check usually consists of reference checks, a criminal history check and in some cases a credit check. I've never seen a background check which looks for jobs left off a resume - that'd be extraordinarily difficult and probably a waste of resources.
