I agree that anonymous tiplines can be beneficial. Employees might not be reporting incidents of theft, fraud, discrimination, etc. for fear of being punished, creating issues with co-workers, being ignored, etc. and by providing them with a confidential reporting tool, critical information may be provided.

Anonymous incident reporting can also be used to prevent workplace violence. Over 80% of violent incidents have clear warning signs, but red flags are often not reported. By providing your employees with the tools to report suspicious incidents, threats, etc. you can potentially save lives and reputations.

I am a strong proponent of anonymous lines. I have had one in place in several organizations since SOX was implemented. Giving your associates another method of reporting unethical, discriminatory or harassing behavior such as an anonymous line through a third party goes far when you have a claim of any of the above.
In my ten years of experience, I have had but a handful of claims that were frivolous.
Keep in mind, no matter what your position, if it's your boss or someone who has control over your future employment who is the issue, most employees find it impossible to report an issue for fear of retribution. We know there are laws against such things, but that fear stills lingers.
And as HR professionals, isn't having more information what we strive for?

We have an Employee Hotline that is through a TPA. Our associates can leave complaints anonymously or not...their choice. You will occasionally have a call from someone with an agenda, but in general has not been abused by our associates. With over 1200 associates in 8 states it has been instrumental in keeping us informed of a lot of situations that otherwise would have gone unreported.

I think having a forum for employees to report issues/concerns, theft, abuse, etc. is very important. While I would encourage employees to talk to their superivisor, or report with their name - I wouldn't want to employees "not" to report if they couldn't do it anonymously. I would rather employees had a voice, even if anonymous, than feeling they had no voice at all. I worked in a large USA/Canadian firm that had a employee hot line, and my experience, while there were some non-real complaints made that had to be investigated, but that was a small portion of the work.

I work for an organization that has been providing reporting line services for over 15 years so any comments I post here might be viewed as self-serving.

Reporting lines don't CREATE problems. Just as calling 9-1-1 doesn't start house fires.

Reporting lines do allow managers to uncover problems at earlier stages - before they give rise to potential litigation. No matter how open your doors are there is a certain percentage of your workforce that will not be comfortable discussing issues of wrongdoing directly.

I've posted a series of questions and answers about our reporting line here: www.in2vate.com/EPL_QandA.pdf feel free to review it.

I'd also be happy to answer any qeneral questions about reporting lines - no strings attached.

He is clear in what He asks and clear in what He offers. The choice is up to us.Isn't it incredible that NY Escort God leaves the choice up to us? Think about it. There are many things in life we can't choose. We can't, for NY Escorts example, choose the weather. We can't control the economy. We can't choose whether or not we are NY Asian Escorts born with a big nose or blue eyes or a lot hair. We can't even choose how people respond to us. But we NY Asian Escort can choose where we spend eternity.
