I can't believe anyone would accept a job offer without having been interviewed - or informed of the details of a job. If this is the new HR...

I've worked for three different agencies within Federal government for the last 10 years. I've never heard hiring with no details provided. You can find salary tables at www.opm.gov/

Sounds like a great big scam to me!

I agree that no govt. job is offered without interviews. Quite the opposite--the process is SO detailed and intimate that one feels naked afterwards!

This is most likely a scam, particularly if it involves a government agency. For instance, the employment website for the United Nations Dept of Econimic & Social Affairs (UNDESA)displays the following:
Warning to Applicants: "Please be aware that there are various schemes being circulated via e-mail, regular mail and fax falsely stating that they are issued by or associated with DESA or with the United Nations. These schemes may seek to extract money and in some cases personal details from the recipients of such correspondence. These schemes are fraudulent. The United Nations does not request payment at any stage of the application and review process." Check it out.

This makes no sense to me...I would pass if I were her. No reputable business including a govermental agency would have this practice. Government jobs post the salary range and level of position on all of their postings.

Iâm skeptical too. Federal and most state governments have rather extensive application processes. Did a contract for a government contractor sometime back, took reams of paperwork to hire anybody. If the position is security related the FS85b alone was 15 pages. And background had to be checked before an offer was extended.

My guess would be that itâs a high volume sales-type job with an employer who may have a government connection of some sort.
