I've searched the forums here and haven't found anything quite like my issue yet.

Our office (+/- 60 employees) has only unisex restrooms. I've experienced firsthand a number of times in the past months a less-than-sanitary restroom experience, let us say.

Not sure who the culprit is, although 99.99% sure the person is male, unless it's a female leaving the seat up, pretending to be male.

I'd leave the old standard "if you sprinkle when you tinkle" note, but I'm not sure it would do any good.

How do you deal with this situation when you don't know who to confront? The issue is not only unsanitary, but potentially dangerous health-wise, as cleaning up after this person (not the cleaning crew, but during the day) may expose me or others to who-knows-what.

Ideas?

Perhaps you should require a key be checked out to use the restroom. See if you can narrow down the culprit in that fashion. I know this is not too practical, but believe it or not, I have seen a couple of horrific stories about this problem in other fori.

If you have a person or two who just does not give a s#@t about restroom hygiene or worse, does this on purpose, then things like expecting personal responsibility just won't wash.

We have gone so far as to place a small shelf in both men's and women's restrooms with some cleaning supplies, including a box of latex gloves. This helped us.

We had a huge problem with this and installed swipe readers on the rest rooms. We eventually caught the person, who was a salesman here. He was terminated.
