I've been asked on top of the job description to prepare a one page summary of every employee's expectation.

Something that says, you get paid X, we expect you to work Y hours, in addition to your job description we expect that you would do Z. And to reference things like sales, marketing, recruiting. This will link back to the job description, be used for goal setting and tied to compensation.

I'm exhausted after overhaulin' our job descriptions only to hear that my 3 page descriptions per position are too long and they want a one page customized indivdual summary per 100 employees. Does anyone do this? Anyone want to share a template or verbiage?

What is the intended purpose of these job descriptions?

Strategic HR,

It sounds like what they would like to see is a version of a Balanced Score Card (BSC) incorporated into the one page summary of expectations. Perhaps the best way to do it is to list the standard baseline expectations, such as pay, hours etc, in standard written form. List the items such as marketing, recruiting etc..in a table or chart form (much like a BSC). These charts/tables would provide room for the topic, a brief description, and expectations. This would also provide a clear and objective foundation for future performance evaluations.

I hope this helps,

Will

in my opinion, the job description is unclear.it can't descript all the works of the employee post, so we chang the idea, the JD contains the skills of the requests of the post.If a employee has the skills he can do the work better.

Strategic HR,

I don't know if you are still struggling with this issue or not. However, I have some discussion papers that describe the Business Scorecard Management Technique, which appears to be similar to what your boss is attempting to implement. It was done for another company I work with and recieved high marks in my MBA program (So it is officially, graduate level work). I can send it to you (minus the company specific info) if you would like.

Hi Will,

I would like to have a copy of that if you don't mind.

It sounds like it would be very useful to my organization.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you Will, that would be great.

I was able to create an excel spreadsheet with the hours, and broke them out by billable/nonbillable. but it's going to be time consuming. I'd love to see your scorecard.
