I also am aware of the "deep pockets" issues in regard to lawsuits. But I think it is appropriate to note that Walmart has some well documented problems with inappropriate actions regarding employment issues. They have taken many steps correct their issues - but there have absolutely been systemic problems.

Without more details in this particular case, it's hard to state with any certainty the motivation for the suit.

On the surface, I think a termination based solely on a marijuana drug test for an employee with brain cancer taking a prescribed and medically necessary treatment is wrong. I would like to know the other details of the situation.
