We're debating about a new job title. If you saw a job title of VP, Relationship Management, what would you expect the duties to be?

I would expect this role to be responsible for the on going relationship management of existing customers measured by customer satisfaction scores.
I would not expect this role to be responsible for new business development.

I agree, new business development implies that the relationship hasn't started yet (ergo, nothing to manage).

I would agree except that if you go out to a job board and do a search for relationship manager positions, they all seem to entail sales or business development. Maybe it's specific to the financial services or banking industries?

HR-Mo I have seen the title and even seen it as SVP Relationship Management. It was unique to the financial services industry (banking, Casino's, etc) and very much had to do with managing the relationship between customers and the company. They even participated in Sales Calls. Shoot me an e-mail (you should have it) and I can even get you in touch with the person.

Daily Q&A
How to Address Flagging Motivation?
How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
