my department has been conducting internal interviews for open postions. Employee A applied/interviewed for one of the open positions. after the interview another employee b with the immediate supervisor about teammate A interview. the supervisor proceed to tell the teammate B of what questions she did not answer correctly, etc..isn't this a breech of confidentiality? Employee b approached me and told me all the specifics as if it was not big deal to be talking about. it bothered me that i want to file a complaint to HR. I must say the supervisor has no prior experience or training and also she is a big gossip when it come to employee matters and personal matters of others.

Your instincts are correct on both issues. Yes this should not be discussed and yes it is likely the result of having poorly trained staff and supervisors.

Note, however, that this is not against the law just bad practices. Most companies do not operate this way and would not tolerate it.

This confirms my advice in the other posting. Look for your next opportunity.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
