No need. A state investigator has already made inquiries and the facts will come out.

Thank you all.  She was let go for non-performance.  We don't plan to contest her application for unemployment -- she has applied-- because in our context, we have no reason to.  There is already an investigator from the other state on it.  Since there is, I really don't feel comfortable intervening in her application for unemployment in this state. 

There are apparently some other issues involving her and her husbard and law enforcement officials going on.

All that being said, she was very gracious and professional during all of this.  I feel badly for her.  I think she's in some tight spots.  Truly, I have never encountered such a cooperative and graceful layoff before.  In cleaning her office, there was evidence of her attending an on-line college.  I know it sounds strange, but her problems notwithstanding, I came away with a LOT of respect for her.  I hope she can sort through, and get through this terrible time.
