I went to work on May 23 1997 and fell from a ladder. I am now a parapligic 44yr old male. the workmans comp insurance adjuster offered to settle the medical case today for approximately $200,000. I am not sure this is a fair amount. medical cost can be high. I do have other medical insurance that has been covering alot of these expenses because I got tired of the wokmans comp hassle. I am not sure what they base this amount on but I would like to find out.

Workers compensation laws vary greaterly from one state to another. What might be a "fair" settlement in Alabama might not necessarily be a "fair" settlement in New York City. You should consult with a workers compensation attorney famaliar with your state's laws. Contact your state workers compensation board for more information or your state bar association for a referral to an attorney who might be able to help you out.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
