Honestly I haven't seen any articles from any of my normal HR/payroll sites that have much information on this yet at all. I am not even sure what all the parameters are yet. I know it is hire date, new positions or refilled positions but I haven't heard on what to do about the 60 day qualification -- or if that even made it into the final bill.

I did see one that posted a bit of the law stating that 1st quarter tax reports should be done as normal and that credit should be taken in 2nd quarter -- since we are at the end of the quarter and there is no way for the IRS to change the 941's quick enough.

It's going to be a mess in our payroll system. I am waiting to hear from them on how they are going to change their system to handle it. They did a good job with COBRA ARRA, so I will just sit back and wait and see. And then we can always take the credit later rather than sooner.

The ink is barely dry on the President's signature. There'll be plenty of guidance and forms coming out in the next couple of weeks.

Daily Q&A

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?

Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
