Good Morning,
We work with individuals that are enrolled into a temporary work experience to gain skills that are transferrable to a permanent job elsewhere. One individual has been working for four weeks and has developed what he says are allergies from working at a certain work site and is requesting a different worksite, which is not a problem. What I am wondering is if a report of injury should be completed under our workers compensation in case there are any difficulties in the future. His immediate supervisor has asked this individual to visit a doctor to document whether or not these allergies may be from the worksite, which leaves me to think that we may be liable for the doctors billing. Can anyone offer any advise. Much appreciated.

Not knowing what WC regs/rulings are in your state or what your WC policy looks like, I'd recommend that you contact your WC carrier with your question.

I agree it's best to consult with the WC provider.
I know if I were the supervisor I would want a doctor's opinion, just in case the reaction wasn't allergic or to prevent further injury from an allergic reaction. Wouldn't you want to document that you did everything you could to protect your workers?

Daily Q&A
How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?
Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
