Can anyone suggest an up-to-date handbook we can purchase on line and just "tweek" for our specific business?

Check with your insurance broker(s). They often have a template they give for free. Check with your state dept of labor. They often have policies written that follow state laws too. (For example, TX has a "Texas Employer's Handbook" online that is really really good and has sample policies)
Often your local state universities will have theirs online...you just have to realize it is based on the fact they are gov't workers and possibly unionized. But it would give you a good outline on what kind of policies you want to have.

Daily Q&A
How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?
Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
