Hi all

we have a staff who had a worker comp injury (fractured his finger) two months ago. He was receiving WC coverage for his medical exp but since he did not lose any time from work, he did need to receive lost wages. We are in constant touch with teh emp and had provided the accommodation that he needed and he stated all was fine

Now, he has been put off work for a week due to work related stress and anxiety. earlier in the week he had infomred his supervisor that he had had an anxiety attack but did not know where it was coming from.

Our dilemma is how should we best proceed wtih this. Do you have any suggestion?

While it may be to late lets start with your state as not all states recognize "work related stress" as something requiring protected time off.

Second point - what does your WC carrier have to say? Could be that you have nothing to fear.

I would immediately speak with your WC carrier and let them know about the subsequent issue. It will be up to them to get the medical records and see if it is applicable.

Daily Q&A

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?

Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
