I am about a month into my position as Operations Manager of my company and seem to be bogged down by continually putting out fires that are set my the ownership's lack of ability to communicate with team members. How do you tell your boss to let go of some areas and trust me with the power that you invested in me, or your company with begin to fall apart in front of your eyes? This may sound rough or too blunt but that is where I am at!

Have you considered sitting down with them on this? If it will help the general conditions in the organization, they may not mind your objective observations/feedback...

I hate to sound negative, but if you are working for a "power monger" it is doubtful you can get them to change. Perhaps once you have been there a little longer and proven your abilities, the trust might come.
You're better off to communicate how you are feeling, with the chance your concerns will be addressed. You might suggest bringing in a consultant to address the management team regarding effectiveness of empowerment.
Good luck!

Daily Q&A
How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?
Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
