I am trying to find what the current time off practices are for small (100 employee) companies. Currently our company has:
8 paid holidays
3 floating holidays
60 hours sick/bereavement time off per year,
and offers 2 weeks vacation until the 3 year anniversary then it increases to 3 weeks of vacation.
I would appreciate hearing from any of you about your time off policies.

We are also a small company (less than 100). We have the following:
14 paid holidays;
2 weeks personal time;
2 weeks vacation then 3 weeks after 7 years;
3 bereavement days (5 if the death is a child or spouse)

We also have fewer than 100 employees and offer our full-time staff:
9 holidays
2 personal days
120 sick hours per year (accumulate to 960)
2 weeks vacation increasing by one week every 5-7 years and capped at 5 weeks.

We have fewer than 100 employees and recognize the need to improve some of our leave policies. As they currently stand, they are:
6 holidays
3 personal days
4 sick days
Vacation - 5 days after 1 year; 10 days after 2 years (that is it).

I work for Shrek the Ogre
we get 2 PTO days, 3 paid holidays and 2 weeks vacation. All this after 2 years of employment. Orge's have layers I'm still searching for the underlining layers!

Cheer up all...I have GREAT NEWS! My company offers 6 Paid Holidays, and 7 days PTO (all-inclusive...Sick/Vacation/etc) after 1 yr. We are small, about 130 employees.

Jillhubbs, Kathie0554 & Anneha - any openings? Geez - I am the Dir. of HR and have been here for 22 years - yes - 22 year. We have 6 paid holidays, 5 sick days, 5 days vacation after years 1 & 2, 10 days thereafter. At some point in the past 22 years, I accepted an additional 5 days vacation in lieu of an annual increase.

I recently interviewed for a position with a non-profit (approx. 70 employees) that offered 2.5 days/month PTO. Was looking forward to that, but alas, didn't get the job.

Ilove my job! We have 14 paid holidays. I earn 1.75 days per month vacation and sick. Vacation will max at 40 days. No cap on sick leave. I am usually able to take about 4 weeks vacation each year - in addition to all the holidays. The non-exempt folks get 1.25 vac and sick per month, 5 personal each year, 14 holidays. Personal days increase the longer you work here.

Vacation time off

It is interesting to read about 2-3 weeks annual leave when in Australia the norm is 4 weeks from the first year. If you do regular shifts and work at least 5 Sundays per year it is 5 weeks.

Sick leave is normally 10-15 days plus 2-3 days for a bereavement. Plus 9 (paid) public holidays off per year.

What often gets commented on is the fact that when an employee goes on annual leave they get a 17.5% loading on their regular wages.

I enjoy reading these fora as a way to compare the different HR practices between our countries.

Hope this gives some food for thought.

I also work for a small company and I am curious if these 2 & 3 week vacations are paid? We offer 6 paid holidays (with others, paid or unpaid, at the president's discretion). In lieu of sick days and a vacation policy, we have a PTO policy. Hourly employees accrue 6 hours per month; salaried employees accrue 8 hours per month. After two years and seven years respectively, those amounts increase. The best part is, accrual begins at your start date and is available for use after 90 days of service. An hourly employee can accrue 9 days the first year. However, that is all we get. After you've used your PTO, any other time off will be unpaid.
