Here is another option for you:
Here in MA we have The Employers Association. www.the-cmea.com This is a great resource for our 30 e company. It's about $300 per year (depending on your size) and it includes the following: -A hotline to answer any HR question you have, from absenteeism to Worker's Comp. -monthly meetings covering different topics. -discounts on seminars for members Well, I could go on and on....just check out the web site and see if there is something in your area you could join. Good luck! |

I would suggest looking into a subscription to HRComply (www.hrcomply.com). I just paid $195.00 for one year and get a years worth of access to a help line staffed with HR specialist. I'm new to HR as well and have found this to be a great resource, and it's not really that expensive.
As far as books go, I use the Employers Legal Handbook as well and have found it more useful than most of the other books I have. You could try "Your Rights in the Workplace". It's a book written from the view of the employee, but it's been pretty helpful as well. |

Hi,
I would suggest joining SHRM or any other organization. In addition, depending on the information you need, you may want to refer to the Department of Labor website- www.dol.gov. Also, check out the websites of vendors you might work with. A lot of times a lot of information is posted in their website, which you may be unaware of. By the way, I'm in Illinois too. Winston & Strawn has a program called eLunch- no fee- and they have different online seminars some related toward HR. |
