I am a university student and we are currently attempting to do research on the effects September 11th had Human Resource Management.

Our research is moving along very slowly. So my question to you, individuals involved in HR, in the "real world" is: Did 9-11 change HR in your workplace? If so how? or if you have any good suggestions of places I could get information? That would be great as well!

thanks in advance for your input!

Carol,

How much research do you have to do and how much time do you have? Are you required to do original research involving surveys, etc. or does web research suffice?

Since a year has gone by since September 11, there is already a wealth of published, peer-reviewed articles available from researchers and scholars. Your university library (it's quicker to go online if you have access and authorization) should have bibliographic databases like ABI Inform, Business Source Elite, etc. These are full articles from professors, doctoral candidates, and professional researchers.

It's fine to ask us of our experiences, but our input would be nothing more than a collection of unscientific data. Your professor would probably be much more impressed if you consulted and reported on a collection of sources provided above.

I would suggest using critical thinking and analysis when you do your writing. Take a position because you may not agree with everything the "experts" have published. That's probably what your professor really wants. Best of luck. -Chuck

The Society for Human Resource Management just released the results of a survey called "HR Implications of the Attack on America" that might be helpful.

You may already have it, but in case you don't, you can find it online at:
