I got a resume today that indicated, "I am a work-alcoholic that is committed to do a thorough job." Think he meant work-a-holic?!!

I recently received a resume from an woman working on her bachelorette degree. I'm still wondering whether she was confused and thought that women received bachelorette degrees while men received bachelor degrees or whether she was trying to write baccalaureate. Of course there is always the possibility that colleges are now offering degrees in the study of unmarried women or really small apartments.

I have a resume from a graduate of a very exclusive and expensive prep school. She described one of her jobs as "the funnest job i ever had." Ahhh that was money well spent Dad.

I once received a piece of ripped note paper, which was dark blue, and had a cartoon of a woman on the phone on it that said "Chatty Girl"

The only thing written on it was "Hiring? No computer." in sloppy red permanent marker.

There was no contact information on the paper, and no return address on the envelope. I wonder if she was upset that we didn't call her back?

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
