Hi,
I have been working in the HR field for 1 and half years now and have been thinking of gaining more knowledge specfic to the HR field by getting a certification. While exploring the web, I found I could enroll in HR certification programs at the local state universities or could go for a PHR certification. Does anyone have suggestions as to which of these would be a better career decision? Does it matter if one gets a certification from SHRM or any other university?

The SHRM certification carries much more power than the certifications you receive at a university. That is not to say that one is necessarily better than another, rather, they are different. Now if you were talking about a graduate level degree....that is a little different! Good luck!

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?
Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
