Our Company is requesting from us to pay $8 a month in order to be able to wear jeans!!! As you can imagine, a lot of employees are angry. Can a company actually do that?

Our Company is requesting from us to pay $8 a month in order to be able to wear jeans!!! As you can imagine, a lot of employees are angry. Can a company actually do that?

I'm not totally sure if they "can". However, if you think about all the nice business clothes cost compared to the cost of most jeans, if might be worth the cost.

Of course they can. I know of several companies in our area that do it and they donate the money to an area charity.

They could just ask you to donate.
Instead of "selling the jeans pass", think of it as "if you donate at least $8 to this charity, you can wear jeans on Friday's this month".

It's not illegal.
