I started to work for the middle-sized contraction company 3 months ago. There are a lot of problems about communication, because our empoyees work in the deferent places and the fluctuation is high.

I know communication problems can be a real source of frustration, especially if the company is large and staff are dispersed.
I suggest you create communities of practice. These are small teams in each department with a team brief leader who will be responsible for communicating to the larger group. This way youvonly have to deal with a smaller group of team brief leaders.
Also if you are on email, ensure each of the team breif leaders has easy access to the email system.
You can also create a company intranet so that each person can find current information and explanations at thier own convinence of time after you have sent an email directing them to the site for more information.
But before you can do all this, I suggest that you have a team building excercise or training that will help break the ice. You could plan for a cocktail at a particular restaurant or in the office with the team brief leaders and atleast one representative from each team in each department, this will serve as an avenue to explain the team brief concept and also give the team leaders a chance to interact and contibute ideas on how to enhance effective communication.

I agree with the idea of CoP, and especially of times of face-to-face meetings - although it's not always easy.

Some people I have seen develop a Newsletter that is short, interesting, and is sent every two weeks. Employees are encouraged to contribute, especially newcomers.

If it's possible for you to visit everyone, that also makes a difference too- especially if you email them afterwards, and include news of your visit in the newsletter

Daily Q&A

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?

Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
