I have recently began my journey into the HR field. I just started my schooling and I am with a company, with no real direction. Not to mention, they dont want to spend any money toward information at this point in time. Is there anywhere i can find real and insightful information, right now i am like a sponge and want to learn and much as i can? Please help!

I would join your local SHRM chapter if there is one and the national organziation. They provide a monthly magazine as well as newsletters about hot topics. Also, look to see what type of seminars are available for HR professionals in your area. Good luck.

I have been in Human Resoure for may years with a compny who had a Manual that explained all HR Responsibilities and now I am A HR Manager with a new company and I am supposed to be the direction for my company and although I have years of experience, I sometimes question my judgment and now I do not have a maunual or director to confirm my decision. What can I do to gather information to assist me as a new HR Manager?

1. Search and find the best HR websites that pertain to your job functions.

2. Join the local chapter of SHRM - even if the company is not willing to pay the registration it is worth the $$ out of your own pocket. You will join a network of HR professionals that you can contact for numerous issues, questions, advise. Most hold monthly luncheons and have a speaker.

3. Find message boards like this to help guide you in the right direction.

4. Attend HR seminars, classes, etc. in your area and you might find some that are FREE!

5. You are on the right track - absorb everything that you can!

Good Luck!
