Before going to your boss's superior consider whether there is anything that YOU could be doing differently.

Why is it that you are working so much? What are you spending the time on? Are you prioritizing your workload appropriately? Are there tasks which could be done more efficiently and/or passed to someone else?

Give your supervisor another try - but don't simply gripe about your long days. Have some suggestions that could address the issue.

If after speaking with your supervisor you are not able to improve the situation, you will be faced with making a choice: live with it the way it is, or seek employment elsewhere.

Prioritize your work. Ask your boss to help you put them in "must do" order. Then, when he comes in with another project ask him where it fits on your list.

Daily Q&A

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?

Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
