Just want to add that this is primarily for my MBA thesis and I will also present this to the company. Therefore, any FREE help/suggestions/ideas is what I really need.

I am a bit late to this topic, but I would suggest that you use the 12 questions of Gallup as a start.
Do you know what is expected of you at work?
Do you have the materials and equipment you need to do your work right?
At work, do you have the opportunity to do what you do best every day?
In the last seven days, have you received recognition or praise for doing good work?
Does your supervisor, or someone at work, seem to care about you as a person?
Is there someone at work who encourages your development?
At work, do your opinions seem to count?
Does the mission/purpose of your company make you feel your job is important?
Are your associates (fellow employees) committed to doing quality work?
Do you have a best friend at work?
In the last six months, has someone at work talked to you about your progress?
In the last year, have you had opportunities at work to learn and grow?

BTW, perhaps a better question is how do we make the culture into a "great" one as in "Good to Great" by Jim Collins.
Collins does not tell how to do it, but does describe the difference on a macro level. Having personally effected four successful turnarounds of management disasters, I proved a set of tools. It was tough but fun.

Based on professional experience, I would recommend a well researched high quality, reliable and valid culture assessment inventory with norms.
Gallop is less of a culture (organization practices) measure than it is a measure of employee disengagement (employee outcome behaviors) albeit a low fidelity tool with only 12 items.
Looking across validated culture assessment tools, a common set of practices emerges that describes organizational culture. These practices include (but not limited to) decision making, authority, risk-taking, power, competitiveness, reward structure, achievement, trust, communication, customer service orientation, etc.
Ensure that cultural issues specific to your organization are represented in the culture assessment tool to choose to use in an effort to validate what you already know.

Culture, with respect to organizations, is usually defined as ALL of the "non-rational aspects of work." But Edgar Schein defined it more as the "shared vision" of "what organizational reality is to US, HERE in this organization, and HOW and WHY we do things around here."
I've read a lot of replies that would have you take this test or read this measure. Why don't you take a day and do some actual research by an organisational researcher or at least SOMEONE who has a background in organisational culture before you take advice from people who don't have the least idea of what it actually is.
I'm offering this suggestion as an organizational researcher whose original thesis was in Organizational Culture, and who wrote the first EVER guide to the teaching of organisational culture on the collegiate level.
So, with that perspective, I'd suggest you take a little time to find out what culture is, before you try to measure it, otherwise, like the six blind men and the elephant, you may be totally right, and, at the same time, completely WRONG. Good luck.
