Hello,

I'm looking for ideas to help build a company-wide culture of recruiting.  Operations has most of the responsibility since they are in charge of interviewing and hiring, but I am their support in Human Resources and in charge of building a qualified applicant pool.  Does anyone have tips or references regarding recruiment strategies?

Most of these are pretty obvious but worked for me in some areas.
1) company wide employee referral program
2) coordinate with your state employment service on establishing an applicant flow.
3) local colleges and universities (post your jobs but also check with the student aid/assistance dept)
4) Veterans affairs dept., may be part of your state employment service.
5) Outside agency- had good luck with Snag-a-job

good luck

^have a really goood point. today, I am really seeing a good result from having an employee referral program within the company. people who refers people knows the company and what they are expecting so the referrals they make are mostly those who would really fit the description. another thing that you can do to add up to your applicant's lists is by having an account with those "jobs" websites. you can even post your openings there. it can be good since a lot of people nowadays uses the internet when searching for a job.

We have had good luck on Craigslist for lower level service/retail.  I have found that for colleges and universities, you have to have retail locations nearby for it to be worth it.  We have had  some luck with employee referrals, but have found that they often want the same time off for outside of work events (parties, test and school schedules, etc)

We've also had good luck with current customers wanting to pick up some hours.
