Have any of you encountered any good/reliable resources for prescreening applicants based on their attention to detail? I can come up with something on my own, but would hate to find out there are proven and effective testing methods out there. Specifically, I am interested in tests that can assess transcription of data from serial/asset numbers to worksheets and finally to data entry. I have recently uncovered some amounts of dyslexia in current employees that I would like to uncover before assigning specific duties, potentially incorporating them into the hiring process (as a means of skill assessment, not hiring decision). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Why attention to detail?

I presume you are a test developer since any test used for prescreening should have sufficient reliability and validity.

Do you have any really good employees now?

Attention to detail is a very important skill for our employees to have. Of course everyone should have sufficient attention to detail, but I meant something more along the lines of data entry and transcription or "copying" of letters and numbers from one source to another.
I work in the IT industry, and many of the functions that our employees perform involve writing down serial and asset numbers for computer equipment. So I would like to find out how to test or at least estimate it.
Obviously I am by no means a "test developer", which is why I am more interested in something that has been qualified and validated so I am sure of obtaining the correct information and not wasting my time or the applicant's.
I am simply interested in pre-employment applicant testing, something to compliment the interview.

Many employers use job matching to identify which qualified job applicants will make the best employees. The process works quite well, is web based and takes about an hour and the results are immediately available. Do you have three or more good performers?

If I'm not mistaken, most common data entry tests will assess alpha/numerical entry accuracy. I normally would send such applicants to a staffing agency I do business with for testing.
