Denied Restricted Parties Lists, OFAC lists check, Global Homeland Security Search, "Specially Designated

Is there an obligation to check these lists in the pre-employment background checks?

Am aware of no obligation to conduct background checks at all absent a statutory requirement to do so (eg government security clearances, DoT requirements, etc). Unless other wise required, a prudent employer does conduct criminal background checks to avoid potential problems in the workplace and even negligent hiring lawsuits. |
