Get your current RN employees to direct their RN friends to your organization by offering your current employees "finders fees." Good luck.

One other idea is to explore withing the employees. Yes, we have all tried this in various ways like sending mass mailers, posters etc. What is important is even after seeing so many of them many employees / friends are very reluctant to refer - we need to talk to them to see figure out their mental blocks and see if that can help. Some niche sites are coming up on a daily basis - keep researching on the net - sourcing is the most challenging bit in Recruiting!

Hi Laura

You don't have to go far to find thousands of nurses in Facebook or LinkedIn - finding them is one thing, though, and engaging them in conversation is another.

They are out there in droves, and they are almost all complaining about their present employer.

But that doesn't mean they are actively looking for work. It just means they are disenfranchised and approachable.

Here's the hook, though... only those actively looking for work have an up to date resume that they are floating around... that's less than 20% of the workforce.

There's a whopping 60% of the workforce that's not fully engaged and not looking, and whom you'll never meet if you're collecting resumes.

Those are the ones you want to reach, but you'll have to shift your tactics.

We have been watching a company in home health care do a fabulous job of expanding their reach online, building community and drawing large numbers into conversation about things that are relevant to the community... that act of 'giving' has built them a steady, passive stream in excess of 1000 candidates a month.

Happy to share details if you're interested.

J

Hi Laura,

I love vdhoop's approach and agree that engaging candidates (and existing employees) is one of the most powerful ways you can create an inspired staff and impact the bottom line.

I welcome an opportunity to discuss this further with you. I'm based on Long Island and can assist in facilitating a conversation among your candidates and with some Continuing Education ideas. You can reach me on 631.277.8880.

Warmly, Siobhan Murphy

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
