Greeting,
I am the in-house recruiter for a small IT Consulting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Recently, we have found that the majority of candidates to whom we extended a job offer were those who had just relocated or who were planning on relocating to the bay Area.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest ways to target qualified candidates who fit this pattern.
Thank you in advance for your ideas.
Riki

Have you considered joining your local ERC Chapter? The Employee Relocation Council or its local chapter can help with this. Good luck.

Join a LinkedIn group that focuses on your geographic area and industry. Many times, people who are relocating (or planning to) will post to such groups to try to figure out the job-hunting lay of the land in their future communities.

My response
You might also examine the reasons for hiring primarily candidates willing to relocate and the requirements of the position. For example, if you have a highly talented candidate who is not considering a move, are there other deployment options you could consider such as temporary assignment, extended business travel, working virtually, or a combination of these options? Allowing the flexibility of talent deployment options can widen your pool of qualified candidates and still meet your business objectives.

Our theory: The only reason these candidates are looking for a new job are because they are relocating and not because they were let go from their former job.
