Where's your best luck been finding quality applicants?

Thanks!

Totally depends on what type of position you're advertising. If its a professional position, I find that doing some research on association or industry sites and posting there yields the best results. If it's hourly, there are lots of local job sites that might meet your needs better than the expensive monster or careerbuilder.

I find Craigslist to be the best. I've hired numerous people for various positions through Craigslist. Not to mention, the price can't be beat.

In that I have always tracked and monitored the effectiveness of my advertising, by position or job family, I always knew wghat the best media was by geographic market.

I would suggest that you begin doing this now and you may well surprise yourself (I found the big job boards a waste of time, niche job boards better, newspapers as foolish to use (the exception being newspaper operated job boards) and Craigs list, in some markets excellent while in others not worth the time)

I havenât found it necessary to post of the âbig boardsâ in the last year or so. I use a lot of free posting sites, community boards, colleges, the state website and professional associations. The latter has been a good producer for me. My only beef with Craigslist is that I get inundated with spam for 6 months after each posting.

That can happen with Monster and Careerbuilder, too, but certainly not to the same extent.

What I really hate is posting a resume on Monster or Careerbuilder with an email address - that's sure to generate a lot of spam!

If you've decided to include job posting into your sourcing strategy (ideally to complement other methods), I'd suggest first identifying where your targets (candidates or networking leads) congregate and then posting or otherwise getting your message out. For example, use niche job boards, industry listservs, usergroups resources, appropriate twitter hash tags plus #jobs, etc.

Here is a recent blog post that offers five ways to find your candidate's virtual water coolers (so you know where to reach them).

Good luck with your sourcing.
