We are a small manufacturing company <500 employees. We are looking to get away from traditional paper and pencil perfomance evaluations. Does anyone have any recommendations for performance management software that is reasonable . we have about 25-30 supervisors/managers who will need to use it.

Thanks in advance

In Response to Performance Management Software:

Liz,

We have been using a web-based talent management solution for about 10 years now, and getting a good system that works with your company's culture is very important. There are several vendors out there that could be acceptable to your company, and you will want to investigate several options before selecting the appropriate one.

Make sure that you explore the "how" performance reviews are set up, maintained, communicated and processed prior to buying a system. Most sales pitches will show you all the bells and whistles but when you get into the meat of configuration you may have bought a complex and undesirable system. Also ask about the implentation process as well because you don't want to be stuck with an off the shelf product that forces you to change your performance management philosophy to fit the product. I have experienced smooth implentations as well as hairy ones; one of which we likend to buying a great product like turbo-tax and then finding out you have to load all of the laws into it before it will work.

Many of the suppliers will offer free demos that are done via virtual meetings so you can see the products and ask questions. I strongly reccommend that you look at as many as possible. Google "performance management systems" or "talent management solutions" and you should get a nice list of vendors to check out.

Best of luck to you! Once you have it in place you will wonder how you ever survived with a paper system. :)

Liz,
My company, OMNI Leadership, has very cost-effective and powerful performance management system that is designed for line managers and for smaller organizations.  It incorporates not only performance ratings against individual and corporate goals, but also has built in competency models, so you can measure performance against competencies, too!
I would welcome the chance to speak with you further about our "system".  Please feel free to call me at 877-426-6222 or e-mail me at mia.saldaneri@omnilx.com.
I look forward to talking with you!

We are a small company also. I highly recommend ReviewSnap software. It's reasonably priced and very user friendly. I searched for years trying to find a performance management software to get away from the paper versions like you. After years of searching, I found ReviewSnap was a very good fit for us.

Chris Arringdale is our representative. Check it out and let me know what you think too.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
