Do you guys think there will come a time when mobile devices will be one of the tools to be used in different industry (talk about your industry and it I suppose) and is it worth investing in different apps and whatever that says it can help?

It all depends upon need Jabo, these mobile devices have already become a need for most of the industries. I would say the time is going to come very soon that they become a part of every industry of the world.
The investment you talked about in Apps is really going to be worth it.

Yeah. I suppose it's worth researching for and discussing specially for the next budget meeting. :)
The scary part of allowing those mobile devices at work is that workers might use it for something else other than work. well, I know cause that's what I'd probably do.

This is no different than employees surfing the web. As we move forward the rules are changed and are more upon the lines of measuring outcomes rather than how specific time is spent.

The naked truth is that many jobs do not take 8 hours a day to complete so there is time available to do other things. This goes for executives as well as staff.

Thinking about white collar jobs, why do they exist and what outcomes are you expecting? The ones that spend most of their day doing administrative work will have time available to do other things and ultimately most admistrative positions will be automated away or outsourced.
