Ours is an electronics company with about 59 employees and the kind of procedures we have in the HR department is too complex and involves a lot of paperwork. Therefore, I was thinking of going in for an HR package which could make my department more productive and efficient. Although I've checked out a couple of packages, I seek the advice from those who are already using an HR system. Any suggestions as to which system would be appropriate for us ?

Thanks

All you're getting are sales people responses.

It appears you may want to look at hiring someone to create a small Access "HRIS" database. You do not have enough employees to justify a huge HRIS cost. It all depends whether you're going to grow a lot, and how often are you keeping track of changes...and whether you want to feed HR into payroll.

I totally agree with Elizabethd.
You say you have 59 staff - I have seen multi national companies supporting their HR function on a series of spreadsheets and simple databases (this was prior to them upgrading to a full HRIS - but they survived up to that point!). I would suggest that you think along these lines otherwise the costs per staff member will be huge.
You say you have very paper based processes. An HR system will not necessarily reduce this paperwork - perhaps you should take a good long look at how the procedures work (draw them out as flow diagrams) and see where improvements can be made to the manual procedures before going for a huge investment.

As an HRMS Functional Consultant who's expertise is in Oracle with knowledge of PeopleSoft and HRVantage, I'd also agree with using Access. Every other recommendation expressed would be overkill based on your description.

I agree, some of the options indicated above are over kill. However, I'm not sure I would go to the other extreme & develop my own HRIS system utilizing Access. There are a number of good HRIS for small companies at reasonable pricing. These systems offer functionality that would be very difficult to produce under access plus many of these systems already have reports developed.
I will give you one example, Best Software is currently offering its Abra Suite to small businesses (under 75 active employees) for $860 (includes software & support).

One thing you might also look into is an online survey tool such as Zoomerang http://www.zoomerang.com. You can survey employees on job satisfication, do exit surveys etc. It is easy to use and a good way to get feedback.

Hi Zahid:

You may want to look into a software company called HR Technologies(www.hrscope.com). I recently had the opportunity to be an attendee for a webinar they hosted. I must say I was very impressed!

Hope this helps!
