Hello,
I got a question for you and I would really appreciate your comments on this. Our company is in the manufacturing business and it is a global company that has factories in several countries all over the world. Our personnel amount is about 12000.
We are now considering to implement a global HR system and for that I would need your comments. Which system would you think is the best? At the moment our factories are using basicly different country specific HR systems that meet their payroll and hr requirements but we would need just one global system for this.
Especially, if you have comments about SAP or Peoplesoft in this issue, please feel free to comment. Also, since we like to consider this point very carefully, could you list the 1 - 10 best systems that might be useful or even have the cabability to be a global system.
Thanks in advance!

There is no such thing as a 1-10 list of "best" HR systems -- "best" for one firm may not be best" for another ...
While some may try, there is no possible answer to the question until you have determined [ in minute detail ] your user and technical requirements, enterprise stability [ growth or compression ], data transmission rules of different countries, computer and telecommunications platforms, linkage with payroll and other systems, and about 20 others questions
Where is your HQ? -- what HR functions do you need to support? -- is this an HR or an IT-sponsored project?

SAP and Peoplesoft both have international capability. Peoplesoft is more user friendly, but SAP is beneficial in a manufacturing company because of it's capability to align with other business units (i.e., supply chain).

One question I have for you is 'why' are you looking to implement a Global HR system? If you are looking to standardize processes globally, then a global HR system may help. We recently worked with a Midwest, global manufacturing firm to help them integrate all of the data from disparate HR systems (Core HR, Payroll, Talent, etc.) from 25 countries (including North America), and provided an integrated reporting/metrics/analytics environment. This alleviated the need to spend $5+ million on a global HR system, and helped them improve process along the way.

Daily Q&A
How to Address Flagging Motivation?
How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
