We use ADP for our payroll, and are bringing in AFLAC benefits next month. We are trying to set up 2 new deduction codes for the premiums, a pre-tax benefit code and a post-tax benefit code. The AFLAC accident policy has a short term disability component, which the rep tells us is post-tax, so part of the premium for it will have to be post-tax.
ADP has a Client Cafeteria Plan Setup Form they sent us when we asked them how to setup these two new deduction codes, and it lists about 20 deduction codes to choose from. We think our two deductions should be set up as "other cafeteria taxable" (for post-tax) and "other cafeteria exempt" (for pre-tax), but are concerned about the short term disability part of it. We're trying to verify if short term disability plans qualify to be part of cafeteria plans or not, specifically because of the ADP deduction code list for cafeteria plan setup - worried about how it will set up if we choose these two and the short term disability does not qualify as part of a cafeteria plan. Anyone out there been in the same kind of situation, or know if std qualifies as part of a cafeteria plan, or know how we can find out? Any input would be appreciated. |
