Discuss how to choose system that will yield the best results, as well as how to maintain it, and how to calculate its return on investment.
We are a manufacturing/lab facility and are in the process of buying a new time and attendance system. Our old system is literally from 1992. We have narrowed it down to two and I was hoping to get so

Novatime 3000 (hand punch)
Infitime 7.0 (fingerprint and pin)

A former employer of mine used a biometric hand-scan type time clock which worked fairly well but was finicky about the position of the hand, rings and such. I believe it was a Novatime product. Of course the advantage is that it eliminates buddy-punching .

I would recommend the HandPunch because it is biometric technology that takes over 70 pictures of the hand, which makes it the most effective way of eliminating buddy punching. The HandPunch automatically takes a three-dimensional reading of the hand and verifies the users identity in less than one second.

well now there are two different opinions, both with very good points. to add my two cents i was wondering what the cost difference is between the two and/or what other expenses would be incurred, ie... training/installation, etc...
and by the way, why can't things just be simple???

Hand scan time clocks seem marketable but not as practical. There is no fear of buddy punching with a quality biometric fingerprint scanner, so the fingertec time recorders range from www.bundyspecialists.com.au would be my recommendation. BRS have also put out some new units which utilise radio frequency biometric technology for added security.

What about Function Fox?
Back when I was in school we had a demonstration from one of their representatives and seemed to me it was quite customizable, user friendly, priced fairly, etc...
Personally I know of a couple of businesses using it today & they give it a good reference.
One within the web design business, the other involved with IT ... a web hosting firm.
