Wish to make my employee training modules interactive and more functional. I've created PowerPoint-based training modules and slides. Learning assessment question slides are dispersed periodically throughout but I've been unable to find how to make them "intelligent" (that is, given a specific response to a multiple choice or true-or-false question, automatically direct the trainee to proceed forward if the response is correct, or if incorrect automatically re-direct the trainee back to the beginning of that topic and those slides for review (and re-test). My reserach in PowerPoint materials hasn't been successful. Can anyone help/thank you.

We have begun using Moodle for our Knowledge Management and Training. It is an open-source tool and very user friendly.

It can serve as a central repository for anything MS Office and has a nice interface.

Wondershare QuizCreator http://www.sameshow.com/quiz-creator.html#110 would be a good eassessment tool for HR. You could make quiz/survery/test for assessment and track the results online for free with Quiz Management System.

CamStudio (from http://camstudio.org/) is free and open source. Quite nice. Allows you to "screen cast", e.g. capture audio and all video occuring on your desktop. Great for creating CBT modules, output as video files.

Go to YouTube.com and type in "CamStudio" for video tutorials on CamStudio itself.

It's particularly nice when a colleague wants to give a presentation, but others aren't available to attend. If you "screencast" (capture) it with a tool like CamStudio, you can "timeshift" the presentation, thus sharing it with others at a time convenient to them.

The most popular tool for "screecasting" is Camtasia by TechSmith. It has more features than CamStudio, but was expensive last I checked:

http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp

Expensive is relative of course. If your employer will buy you any tool you need, then I'd look at Camtasia first. If you're on a budget, or have a budget of zero dollars, then consider CamStudio.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I didn't read the OP's post closely enough. Neither CamStudio or Camtasia will allow you to create auto-gradable "quiz" modules. Still, they're great for the audio/video portion of a module. I bet there's free software that would merge the two functions.
