Anyone ever move from one Self-service HRIS to another?

Has anyone had experience migrating from one electronic employee/manager self-service HRIS/Payroll/Talent Management system to another? For example, a system where you house electronic sign-offs for time-sheets and all new hire paperwork and offer letters, and then move it all to another system that will do the same. Are systems able to handle such migration (not just data but actual forms and sign-offs for compliance) and if not, how do you remain compliant with record retention regulations? (since you no longer have paper files). Would love to hear from someone that has gone through this...

I suggest you pose this question to the vendors you might do business with. They will surely have come up against this issue before and resolved it.

One solution might be to "freeze" the records in the prior system as of a fixed date. You then know, based on the date, which system has your historical records and then you do not have to migrate.

They are SaaS solutions hosted by the vendors rather than hosted internally by IT. I'm curious from a customer perspective who has dealt with this as the vendors often claim they can do anything pretty easily yet I have not heard concrete answers as to how all historical forms/signatures from a self service migration will be able to be effectively migrated. Most clients likely only moved to self-service within the past 5 years or so and those that did, I would imagine only a small percentage have since left the self-service provider for another.
