Differences in Performance Evaluation Treatment

I work in a very small organization with less than 25 employees.  There are only 5 employees, 3 of which are salary and 2 are part-time hourly and the rest are employees under contract terms and are subject to term sof their employment differently from the administrative staff.

The managment of our organization does reviews at the end of each year.  The 2 part-time hourly and myself are asked to do a performance evaluation form and submit it to management before our review.  They also do their own performance evaluation form and share that with us at the review.

My question is:
Is it right that they request this from only 3 of the 5 employees?  The others don't have to complete the form.  Is that even legal?

My second question is whether or not it is right to do performance evaluations or review of performance differently for one group of staff over another?

Both are perfectly legal - there are few if any laws governing performance management.  It would only be illegal if the different approaches to performance management were used to illegally discriminate against one group of employees.

The main objective of the evaluation is to assist in professional development by identifying strengths and areas for improvement.  Evaluations enable management to assess an individual’s job performance and determine appropriate promotion opportunities and compensation.

Count yourself among one of the luck ones!  At least your supervisor cares about your thoughts and asks for your opinion!
