Can a sense of Purpose be used to motivate your workforce?
A forum for exchanging ideas about skills training, leadership training, management training, compliance training, e-learning, as well as organizational development and effectiveness.
Motivation is a big factor when it comes to the wrokforce but I never hear a lot of insight on how purpose plays an important factor. Does anyone have any ideas?

In Response to Can a sense of Purpose be used to motivate your workforce?: Motivation is a big factor when it comes to the wrokforce but I never hear a lot of insight on how purpose plays an important factor. Does anyone have any ideas? Posted by DJenkinsPurposeDevelopmentCoach In the non-profit world we have always had a bit of and edge since we try to attract/select people who are mission driven. This cause-orientation is a major plus, but only goes so far. It won't overcome long hours, low pay and under-staffing indefinately. Like most folks I've tried the usual things, awards, fun/games, food, time off, praise and even money. Each works for a while, with some people. A Bit Outside Of the Box Since the actions of an employee's supervisor and his/her style of leadership is one of the major causes of dissatisfaction, I'd spend some money there. Building quality leaders and training supvisors might end up being the best motivator of them all. Good Luck |
