Can anyone steer me toward some pertinent articles supporting the cause of training within corporations? I have been running into a lot of ROI articles, but no theory behind why training is necessary

Can anyone steer me toward some pertinent articles supporting the cause of training within corporations? I have been running into a lot of ROI articles, but no theory behind why training is necessary in big business or how it is really benefitting the business. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi - I was just going to start a search to find out answers to this very question. Did you have any luck with your search?

When you ask about justification for training, do you mean you want a cost/benefit analysis or to justify KSAs gap?
I can point you toward a wonderful suite of performance management tools to identify critical skills, including "soft skills" needed for the job, then can produce a gap analysis graph based on 360 degree profiles. It's a powerful tool to make the case for training and/or coaching for performance improvement.
Feel free to contact me at ClaytonGibson@Juno.com.
