I have been asked to put together training curriculum addressing these topics within a career development topic area: resume writiing, interview techniques, career planning/assessment. With each area having one hour to address the topic. Could you please provide resources, your organization's approach or other suggestions for this request. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Judy,

First of all, one hour each is not nearly enough time to adequately address those topics! Try a search of major training companies like CareerTrack, Skill Path, American Management Association and the like. Also search McGraw-Hill, Jossey Bass publishers for training manuals that would provide exercises for your CD topics.

As a specialist in organizational career development systems, I would advise longer workshops or a series of more than one hour each. One of the problems with many CD programs is that they promise, but don't deliver. That causes lowered employee morale--more so than not having a program at all. It makes the management look like talkers of empty promises.

E-mail me privately if you'd like further discussion.

Best wishes,

Phyllis Clayton

Judy, career planning and assesment is a very individual minded subject matter, but I have written a book on that explains how each individual can proceed in their own way by understanding some clear common sense principles. The book is titled: Clear Concepts, and is available on Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble. It has received very good reviews so you might want to check it out and see how you can utilize this in putting togetehr your training blocks. It could be used as a resource for that.
